Legend Press acquire Wayne's second novel

Legend Press are delighted to announce the acquisition of World English rights for Chains of Sand, the incredible new novel by Jemma Wayne.

This book follows her debut After Before, which has been longlisted for the Baileys Women’s Prize for Fiction and shortlisted for the Waverton Good Read Award. The shortlist for the Baileys Prize is being announced this evening (13th April).

Chains of Sand, represented by Donald Winchester from Watson, Little Ltd, is a story about identity, family and clashes of culture exploring racism in Israel, anti-Semitism in Britain, deep-rooted hatred, and the struggle of four families dealing with the prospect of letting their beloved children sacrifice everything they know, for everything they want.

Chains of Sand is Jemma Wayne’s second novel and is the first fictional address of the recent Israeli-Palestinian crisis. The novel will be published in Summer 2016.

Born to an American musician father and English mother, Jemma Wayne grew up in Hertfordshire and studied Social and Political Sciences at Cambridge University and Broadcast Journalism at the University of Westminster.  She began her career as a journalist at The Jewish Chronicle and now works freelance splitting her time between journalism, writing for stage, and prose.

Lauren Parsons, Commissioning Editor of Legend Press, comments:

Jemma never fails to deliver beautifully evocative and emotive stories. She skilfully searches out the light within the dark, explores the struggles that humankind face and delves deeper, offering a poignant and heart-rending picture of real life. Jemma is an incredible talent and we are proud to be publishing such a significant novel.
